Charles Thomas Steele, Jr., Esq.

Tom Steele is the son of Tommy and Barbara Steele of Burlington, North Carolina. He began Scouting with Pack 115 at St. John's United Church of Christ, where he attained the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf, Bear and Webelo and earned his Arrow of Light. Tom subsequently joined the Church's Troop 115 and later transferred to Troop 75, where he earned the Eagle rank and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow as both an Ordeal and Brotherhood member.

When his son William joined Cub Scouts, Tom again became active in Scouting. He previously served as a merit badge counselor and on the Troop Committee of William's Troop 1 and, when William later transferred to Troop 142, Tom began service as one of its merit badge counselors and on its Troop Committee, roles in which he continues to serve. Tom also serves as Chair of the Alamance District Eagle Board and volunteers with Burlington Pack 17, where his son John Charles is a Webelo.

Tom practices law with Wishart, Norris, Henninger & Pittman, P. A. in Burlington. He received his B.S. with distinction in Accounting from UNC - Asheville in 1984 and his J.D. from UNC - Chapel Hill in 1987, where he was awarded the J. Nelson Young Tax Scholarship, was a member of the James E. & Carolyn B. Davis Society and was Treasurer of the Student Bar Association. He is a certified public accountant, holding the CCIM designation, and has been a Certified Specialist in Real Property Law, Residential, Business, Commercial and Industrial Transactions since 1994.

Tom has remained active with the Real Property Section Council of the North Carolina Bar  Association, having served as Chair of the Legislative Committee for two years, treasurer and vice-chair, for which he was recently honored as a co-recipient of the Section's Distinguished Service Award. Tom was also recently elected to the Bar Association's Board of Governors, and serves on its Strategic Planning & Emerging Trends and Charter & Bylaws Committees.

Tom is a member of Front Street United Methodist Church where he teaches Sunday school and serves on the Administrative Council and the Board of Trustees. Additionally, Tom is a board member and treasurer of Alamance-Caswell Home Builders Association, a board member and Chair of Hospice of Alamance-Caswell Foundation, Inc, and a member of the Love School of Business Accounting and Finance Advisory Board at Elon University.

Tom and his wife Kim are the proud parents of William and John Charles and reside in Burlington.
